A commercial sex worker identified as Grace Onome, who allegedly sold her 2-year-old child for N60, 000 in Lagos State, has been arraigned in court.Naijaloaded recalls that Onome was arrested in the Badagry area of the state alongside four accomplices, who allegedly aided the sale of the girl.Onome, who worked as a commercial sex worker in the Mobil area of Badagry, allegedly sold her daughter, Zainab, on September 30 to another sex worker, simply identified as Endurance, for the said amount.She however, appeared on Wednesday before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on a two-count charge.According to the prosecutor, Insp. Daniel Ighodalo, the 37-year-old committed an offencewhich contravened Sections 142 and 274(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.The Chief Magistrate, Miss Abimbola Awogboro, granted bail to the sex worker in the sum of N50, 000with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till November 21 for trial.
Ibadan— TWELVE persons, including a mother and her twin children, were feared killed in an accident that occurred, yesterday, at Oja-Oba Market area of the Ibadan South East Local Government Area of Oyo State. While the accident left several people injured, several commercial cars and property were crushed by an articulated vehicle. According to a source, the driver of the truck, which had just off loaded cement, lost control of his vehicle and crushed about 12 persons on the spot. While the remains of those killed were taken to the morgue at Adeoyo State Hospital, the injured were rushed to the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
